Read to Me: Connecting with your Child Through Books

Research shows that reading aloud is the single most important thing you can do to ensure a lifetime of reading enjoyment in your children, and yet it is not something that comes easily to all parents. In this presentation you will learn how to develop your child's vocabulary and background knowledge as well as book and print rules through purposeful conversations, reading age-appropriate books, and talking and asking questions. Through the use of video you will see various stages of children reading from toddler through kindergarten and get a clear understanding of the strategies children have and can learn at each stage.

    About the presenter:
Kilee Christnagel has a B.S. in Family Social Science and Masters in Elementary Education from University of MN. She has been teaching early childhood children and families through the public schools for over 10 years.
